Natural skin tightening treatments without Botox or dermal fillers

02/02/24Natural skin tightening treatments without Botox or dermal fillers

If you would like skin tightening treatments near Chester and Wrexham but don't like the idea of toxins (like Botox) or having dermal fillers and would prefer an all natural product, then regnerative procedures may be what you have been waiting for.

What exactly is regenerative medicine?

This exciting and expanding branch of medicine focuses on developing and applying new treatments to heal tissues and organs and restore function lost due to aging, disease, damage or defects.

How do regenerative treatments work in aesthetic medicine?

Regenerative treatments focus on harnessing your own body's natural healing powers to rejuvenate tissues and in doing so enhance your appearance. Applications for these regenerative treatments are used for a variety of aesthetic concerns, including:

Facial rejuvenation especially around eyes and mouth

Hair restoration

Scar reduction

Skin texture and elasticity improvement

Examples of these regenerative treatments are:

1- Platelet rich plasma (PRP) and platelet rich fibrin (PRF). Your blood is taken, spun in a centrifuge and a small percentage is extracted and injected back into the skin. PRF is my preferred modality because of the increased density of growth factors captured and the absence of any chemicals used in the process. Click here for a more detailed blog on PRF PRF blog

2- Polynucleotides. These are hyperpurified DNA particles taken from fish sperm, is so purified that even those who are allergic to fish can have this treatment safely. When this solution is injected it promotes fibroblast activity and proliferation. Fibroblasts are the “mothership cell” of the skin’s integrity. These cells create collagen, elastin, hyaluronic acid and protective enzymes that gives the skin its vitality, bounce and radiance. Click here to read my more detailed blog: Polynucleotide blog

3- Microneedling with Exosomes. These are microscopic carrier molecules that deliver useful signals to your cells to repair and grow. At present these are providing mixed reviews on their efficacy for doctors and patients. There are human, animal and plant sources available and early studies show promise.

4- Stem cell technology using cord lining conditioned media. In particular from Red Deer placenta however the final product has no cellular components. The resulting media has a plethora of growth factors, exosomes and lots of other beneficial proteins that create the “orchestra” needed for a good holistic tissue regeneration.

*All of the above can be used with a powerful activating tool like micro-needling or radio frequency micro-needling. Only some can be injected directly into the skin eg PRF, PRP and Polynucleotides.*

What are the benefits?

1- Minimal, if any risks. They use your own body’s natural rejuvenation mechanisms therefore minimising the risk of adverse reactions or rejection.

2- Minimal Downtime: Many regenerative procedures are minimally invasive, leading to shorter recovery times compared to traditional surgeries.

3- Long-Term Results: Some studies suggest that regenerative treatments offer longer-lasting results by promoting the body's natural repair mechanisms. Your own collagen has a 1/2 life of approximately 7 years, however, everyone’s rate of collagen destruction is different so longevity of results will differ. Unfortunately none of these treatments will stop your skin and tissues from ageing but it can create the look of "ageing gracefully".

What are the risks?

1- To date, they do not give the guaranteed volume that traditional dermal fillers give. However, this is a benefit also.

2- Biological ingredients are fragile. Make sure you are seeing a reputable medical practitioner who you trust to handle blood products in a safe and sterile environment. It’s also very important to ensure biological materials are bought and transported in the correct way from reputable sources. Corners should not be cut with these procedures.

The future of aesthetics is trending towards more natural and regenerative approaches. As research continues and technologies advance, these treatments may produce more predictable outcomes with broader applications. However, it's crucial to approach these procedures with caution, ensuring they are administered by qualified professionals in accredited facilities to maximise safety and efficacy. Choose a doctor who has a variety of these treatment modalities in their tool kit, so they can guide you as to what will work best.

If you’d like an appointment with me, and you live less than 2 hours away, it’s better to see me in person for a 45-50 mins comprehensive assessment, as it’s helpful to touch and feel your tissue to see what treatment combinations will work best.

Those patients who live 3-4 hours away often want an online zoom consultation for an assessment. If they are treated with HA fillers or bio stimulating fillers, I ask that they stay locally for 3 days in case of rare adverse events. My online booking system is currently disabled and I’m only taking bookings through my personal assistant Lisa. See the details below.

Our normal working days are: Tuesdays, Thursdays & Fridays and once a month Mondays.
